Letters to local legislators and "to the editor" of local media are a powerful tool in ensuring tobacco control is addressed on a broad-based community level. It proves to lawmakers, reporters and area leaders that people care about the issue, creates the opportunity for others to respond and rallies more people to the cause. Media and legislators also enjoy hearing from community members on issues of importance.

Please consider sending a letter to your Senator, Representative and newspaper about tobacco control. There are a variety of issues to write about, including tobacco cessation, funding tobacco control activities, the Smokefree Air Act, tobacco-free parks and schools, smoke-free homes and vehicles and much more.
