The Central Iowa Tobacco-free Partneship (CITP) was established as part of the nation's landmark settlement with the tobacco industry. The Central Iowa Tobacco-free Partneship covers Polk, Dallas, Madison, and Warren Counties and focuses on the following four goals:

• Prevent initiation of tobacco use among young people
• Promote cessation among young people and adults
• Eliminate nonsmoker's exposure to secondhand smoke
• Maintain a tobacco control community coalition
